How hard is it to push the throttle on an airliner?

When the pilot takes off and he ramps the throttle up very slowly, is that because it has so much resistance, or to have a nice smooth takeoff?

Like in that movie Air Force One, instead of doing a completely smooth regular landing like they did they should’ve just slammed on the throttle full reverse the moment they were two feet above the ground, and put on the brakes and the spoilers and everything and turned off every vital system on the plane they could, unlock the doors from the cockpit (can they do that?).. If they really knew they had terrorists behind them then why didn’t they do that?

Another thing about throttles — I always thought the reason they made backwards less power and forwards more power is so that the pilot is always in control, he can never accelerate so fast that his arm causes an uncontrollable positive feedback loop of acceleration!

Maybe this started with fighter planes but is there any truth to this?
huntaroti, it was an aborted landing. In the middle of the movie, the terrorists blasted the cockpit door open and forced the plane to take off again.
