I currently bought a car that had four winter tires installed on it (the all-season tires were completely bald). I figured that I should buy four all-season tires now that the snow is gone. However, my mechanic told me that it would be fine if I kept my winter tires on throughout the summer. Is this true? And do winter tires affect gas mileage and engine performance? Anyways, hope to hear from someone soon, thanks.

They will work fine. Might wear out a little faster if that.

The only time you cannot leave the winter tires on is if they are studded snow tires. Then the law in some states requires that you change them by a certain date. It is better to change them to all season, both for your engine and for gas milage.
