While traveling approx 75-80 mph, my ’99 Civics engine lost power, emitted black smoke from the exhaust, and came to a rolling stop. This occurred on the return trip from a meet approx 80 miles from home. The trip there was uneventful. I’ve checked the timing belt-still intact, and the spark plug wires-still good. The engine turns over but simply will not start. There is some patterned smoke when trying to start the engine. Any ideas?
