    That is right. Winter tires are made to have more contact with the road and may be constructed of a different type of rubber compound. This is why all-weather tires were developed for the places where it doesn’t snow much. If where you live there is snow on the ground all December into March, you’d best have dedicated winter tires and switch them on & off.
