The 15s are cheaper than staying with 16s for winter tires but I want to know what the pros/cons are from switching back and forth. Will this effect my speedometer, etc since it was all set up for 16 inch factory tires.

    you can do it as long as you put a snow tire on it that is equal in height to your front tires, say your front tires are 26″ tall you will have to make sure that the back wheels and tires when mounted equal 26″.

  2. yes you can, but you have to change the width of your tread and the aspect ratio of your sidewall. when downsizing rims by one inch, to keep your speedo accurate, you have to take 10mm away from your tread width, and add 10% to your aspect ratio.

    so for example if your original tire size was 205/55/r16 and you want 15 inch rims, you would take away 10mm from the original 205mm which gives you 195mm. then add 10% to the original 55%, which gives you 65%. the last number in your tire size is the rim width, so that would become 15.

    so your tire size would be 195/65/r15.

    there are other combinations you could use to keep the speedo accurate. you can play with different combinations using this site and it will tell you how close your speedo will be.
