Red Line MTL and MT-90 are designed to provide excellent protection and improved shiftability for manual transmissions and transaxles, having cured the problem of hard shifting in thousands of transmissions with shifting troubles. They have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most manual transmission synchronizers (many gear oils, engine oils, and ATFs are too slippery for proper synchro engagement). I have a Jeep with the AX-15 gearbox with the familiar difficulty in shifting into 1st and 2nd. Replacing the existing fluid with this product has resulted in slightly smoother shifting. It won’t cure the fact that the synchronizers are wearing out eventually, but it’s made things smoother for the time being.
