I have a 1993 GMC Sonoma Pick-up with a 2.8 liter engine. It has a throttle body fuel injection set up.Due to numerous problems that I have been unable to solve I am thinking of changing to a carb. I have another manifold and carb off of a 1986 Chevy S-10 2.8 liter engine. Will the carb fit on my current manifold or will I have to change manifolds?

there’s only one way to find out….measure it….bolt to bolt….throttle bore dimensions etc…. but really, i’d just recommend fixing the tbi setup….it will work better….i’ll tellyou from experience that usually your problem is coming from a vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum lines, the throttle body base gasket, basically anything that could leak air you know? Tiny air leaks cause a world of trouble…. I only suggest this cuz of all the years of struggles i have had with carburated engines. It’s a constant war with adjustments as the climate changes (your air density changes with temperature). but do as you must…. best of luck

When the injector wears out in the TBI it cant kepp an accurate measurement of gas which the computer overreact to. Sounds like you need a new injector, and only buy SHELL or CHEVRON gas. You do not need super, Just regular. Oh, and the 2.8 motor is kind of a dog anyway.

If you have a smog inspection program in your state you will never pass with a carburator, fix the injection, it’s not rocket science just get a manual and follow the trouble shooting section.
